"Matamanoa magic"
WONDERFUL! We are so glad we spent 4 nights/5 days on this truly fantastic little island. First up, we have absolutely no complaints. Matamanoa is exactly what you hope for in a picture perfect island (child free) resort. From the beachside welcome song to the farewell hugs we felt part of the Matamanoa staff family. Our super spacious garden bure was literally 30 seconds from the pool restaurant/pool area. Really comfortable king bed, very effective AC, nice walk in shower. The infinity pool was the centre of activity (or rather inactivity) as we (and others) chilled out on the poolside loungers occasionally slipping into the bath warm water for a refresh. When not chilling we were in the ocean. We saw sharks, squid and thousands of stunning fish when snorkelling off the beach straight in front of the resort. In addition the snorkel safari through Deep Blue was excellent value for money and we saw turtles, more sharks and the most stunning coral reef. I also did three scuba dives with Deep Blue operated by ex-pat Englishman Trev. Again awesome service, stunning dive sites and excellent value for money. Evening entertainment was provided by Alfred and three others on guitar. There was not a song they couldn’t play and we had a blast dancing and singing to their wonderful music. The breakfast (included in fare) was massive and actually carried us through to dinner. The menu changed every night and there is also a vegetarian menu. We were totally blown away by the quality of our meals, particularly the fish dishes. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Matamanoa.

"April 2023 visit"
A wonderful stay here for a mother and adult daughter. Very relaxing, and the staff was so friendly and seemed genuinely happy. So refreshing these days! And, they remembered us day to day, something you don’t see very often. Meals were outstanding, and the system they use to get visitors checked in and checked out when time to go is seamless. A magical place; we didn’t want to leave!

"The Most Phenomenal Honeymoon"
10/10 on absolutely everything to do with Matamanoa! The staff are what makes Matamanoa so special – they are kind, funny and always willing to help with anything. We stayed in a beach front pool bure and it was stunning – the outdoor sun bed and plunge pool were very nice! Matamanoa itself sits on a stunning atoll, and the snorkelling directly out from the beach was glorious. Deep Blue diving and water sports offered an amazing array of activities, we really recommend the snorkel safari, guided snorkelling and visit to Castaway Island. The food was delcious! Was so very hard to leave Matamanoa, but we will absolutely visit again. The most phenomenal place for a honeymoon ever. Thank you Matamanoa!

"Paradise - Perfect to Switch Off"
“For the first time in my life I was able to switch off” – review from my fiance!
This trip was so special for us and everything was perfect! We went to Matamanoa as a combination of completing our renovations and for a baby moon…it also turned into a proposal as well! Of course I said yes!
Completely suitable for a 7 and a half month pregnant visitor. We visited in January and were lucky with perfect weather. We didn’t find it too hot or humid (though we do come from north Queendland, so maybe cooler regions may find it humid). When arriving, a boat will drop you on the beach, so wear footwear suitable for a wet landing, but the staff will help and were great with my limited mobility.
The island is just beautiful and the resort was very clean, as were the rooms. The staff did everything possible to make our stay memorable. It is just the most perfect place on earth to switch off, and with daily snorkelling right outside your bure it is so easy to relax. There were daily activities available which we didn’t end up doing but don’t let the island’s size put you off staying as there is always plenty to do…including nothing sometimes! The beach is perfect – exactly what you see on the Fiji postcards.
And the room was great – very clean, great shower and facilities, air con worked well and with our own private plunge pool and sun deck it was just paradise. Of course, with tourism taking a back seat over the last few years, the island didn’t have visitors and there are definitely signs that it was closed for a while, but the staff are doing a great job bringing everything back to life and it certainly didn’t disrupt our visit in any way! I had seen reviews about wifi only available in the rooms at an added cost – this is not a problem if you are looking for somewhere to switch off anyway! We certainly loved the disconnect and didn’t need the wifi. It is available in the main area if needed so no problem at all for us.
The dining room is open for each meal and changes daily. Some days the selection suited and others not as much, but there was always something great and the staff really do try to cater to any request. Highly recommend the tuna sandwich for lunch, lightly toasted – so fresh and perfect after a swim! Remembering that the purpose of our trip was to switch off and spend some time together before our new arrival, so we were not fussed about the food and were really happy, although other reviews had said they weren’t as pleased with the limited selection and changing menu. Honestly it was no problem and I think it was perfectly fine. If I were looking for a gastronomic experience I wouldn’t go to a tiny island in the Pacific Ocean where supplies are dependent on seasonal deliveries via boats!
I recommend taking two sets of bathers (togs/swimmers). They dry real quick between use but you will want to swim a couple of times a day or relax in the plunge pool in an afternoon. We also took our own snorkelling gear just for the convenience of not needing to borrow sets each time.
I would love to stay again, though unfortunately we no longer fall into the “child-free” demographic of tourists. So sadly for some time we cannot head back, but look forward to an anniversary in years to come when we can visit again! In the meantime, please enjoy this little piece of paradise and soak up every second of relaxation in a really beautiful place on earth!

"Honeymoon in paradise"
My husband and I stayed at Matamanoa for 10 days in October and it was truly the most wonderful honeymoon we could have dreamed of. The bure and grounds were beautiful and very well kept and the views were INCREDIBLE. We loved all of the fresh fish we got to eat while we were there. And what really made our stay so incredible was the staff. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and accommodating. We went on a few excursions with Scoby and Bill and went on a few dives with Josh, Wavi, and the diving team. We had such a blast and truly the most wonderful honeymoon. We can’t wait to come back to Matamanoa Island Resort!

"Laid-Back Visit"
We arrived at the island via South Seas Cruises (resort transfers), and were greeted with singing, shell leis and friendly staff.
Our rooms were well laid out. Had AC, ceiling fans and levered windows. In room safe, hair dryer, mini fridge and coffee/tea station. Beds were very comfortable.
Staff were engaging and went out of their way to make our stay special.
Snorkeling gear and kayaks provided with your stay or pay to visit other reefs for diving/snorkeling. Amazing coral and tons of fish. Black tip sharks frequently spotted.
Food was delicious with a varied menu daily to keep you interested. Attention to good allergies was appreciated.
Great walks all over island to top lookout or beach areas.
We would go back in a heartbeat.
